Bone Broth breakfast
Following up from yesterday’s post on Bone Broth, I wanted to share this morning’s Bone Broth breakfast. It is not pretty but it is a wonderful way to start with your day with a bowl full of nutrition. This morning, I sauteed onion, celery, carrots, mushrooms and avocado with chicken breakfast sausage in avocado oil. Added Curry Powder (turmeric & other anti-inflammatory spices) and black pepper. Poured Chicken Bone Broth on top, then mixed in an egg to the very hot soup. The egg cooked as I scrambled it in the cooking soup. Not much liquid left when I was finished. I poured this on top of Greens (mache blend today). The greens get a little cooked/wilted. It is soo good! I wish you could see the steam coming off the dish when I took the picture. ?
7 Fats for Healthy Guts
Remember the Fat-Free craze in the 90s? Sadly, I was an active participant in eating only Fat-Free Foods.
Today, we know fat is a required staple in our diet. Jordan and Steve from SCD Lifestyle always share great advice for a healthy gut!
Check out their article on Fats to include and Fats to avoid. For our family, our go-to oil is Avocado oil. What fats do you like to use in your cooking?
The Bountiful Benefits of Bone Broth
Let’s talk about Bone Broth! We talked about Collagen. Bone Broth is full of Collagen! And, it is cold and flu season, this is the best time of year to consume Bone Broth. Chris Kresser L.Ac wrote a terrific article on the “Bountiful Benefits of Bone Broth” where he calls it “a nutrient gold mine.” The article is long but I think you will really enjoy reading about the benefits. I am confident the article will convince you of Bone Broth’s magical powers. ? ?
It is magical! I try to consume at least a little every day.
My favorite way is breakfast: saute up a little leftover meat or breakfast sausage along with a ton of veggies. When they are cooked to my liking, I add Bone Broth. Some days, it becomes soup and some days, it is just a little to soak into the veggies. Add an egg on top (scrambled, sunny side up, whatever). Put it on top of raw greens and yum! (If I feel that it is a little dry, I will add a dressing on top too.) Tomorrow, I will take a picture and post.
Do you consume Bone Broth? If so, how do you incorporate it into your diet?

Cold Busting Coconut Gummies
Speaking of Collagen and Turmeric, my niece sent me a wonderful Gummy recipe from The Cook’s Pyjamas. We have made it a couple times. I keep them in my freezer and just grab a gummy every day or two to munch on. Gummies are especially fun if you have cute molds like the one pictured here. Lots of choices on Amazon. 🙂

Are you getting enough Magnesium?
Are you getting enough Magnesium? Unless you are making a conscious effort to consume magnesium-rich foods or are supplementing with magnesium, you are probably not getting enough magnesium. Magnesium is a cofactor in more than 300 enzyme systems that regulate diverse biochemical reactions in the body on a daily basis. This is a great article from Judy Lynn from @multiplesclerosisnewstoday. I highly recommend reading the entire article (it is short). She shares some why it is especially important for those of us living with MS to consider our magnesium levels!
We Are Streams that Sing
Jamie Hughes published a beautiful article today with MS News Today. She writes, “I’ve come to see that my illness isn’t making me miss out on things. Rather, it is the thing that gives my life form, meaning and purpose.”
As we move into 2018, may we keep her words close to us.
